WHEN looking at total trade between Indonesia and Spain in 2024, total trade between Indonesia and Spain reached US$2.70 billion. According to official records, Indonesian exports to Spain amounted to US$2.10 billion, while imports from Spain totaled US$593.40 million.
This the reason, Federation of the Spanish Food and Beverage Industry (FIAB) recently hosted a Spanish Food Promotion and Networking Dinner in Jakarta with the support of the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. The event was opened by the Spanish Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Bernardo de Sicart Escoda. This event is a vital opportunity to strengthen trade relations between Spanish food and beverage industry players and Indonesian importers and distributors.
Meanwhile Jaime Fernandez Del Vallado, International Trade Policy, announced during a press conference that FIAB brought a delegation of Spanish food and beverage companies, representing the best qualities of the country’s industry. Participants from Indonesia had the opportunity to engage in direct B2B meetings with the attending companies, covering various product categories: meat, potatoes, olive oil, and wine.
FIAB emphasized that its mission in Indonesia is to open new trade opportunities, build long-term partnerships, and introduce premium-quality Spanish food and beverage products to the Indonesian market.
He explained that FIAB expressed its appreciation to Double M, an Indonesia-based international market consultant, for its role in coordinating the event and facilitating connections between Spanish companies and potential partners in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Marc Alonso Pinos, CEO of Double M, stated that through this initiative, FIAB aims to further bolster the presence of Spanish products in the Indonesian market and explore opportunities for sustainable collaboration in the future.
“Indonesia is a predominantly Muslim country, but Spanish food products entering Indonesia are guaranteed to have all information related to halal products consumed and used by halal-conscious Indonesian consumers in accordance with halal standards Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI),” he said.
He elaborated on the FIAB event’s objective, stating that it aims to enhance the halal product trade ecosystem between Indonesia and Spain. Indonesia remains open to future collaborations with other foreign halal certification bodies.
He emphasized that we are exercising a high degree of caution in this regard. Rest assured, all our products are certified halal by foreign halal bodies and registered with the MUI before entering the Indonesian market.
“This networking session, during which guests are encouraged to engage in conversation and explore potential new partnerships, will be held in a relaxed atmosphere enriched with typical Spanish dishes and drinks,” Marc Alonso Pinos concluded. [traveltext.id]
