AMERICAN consumers spent a record US$11.8 billion online during the annual Black Friday shopping season, up from US$10.8 billion last year, according to data from Adobe Analytics.
The platform estimates that Cyber Monday on December 1 will see even higher online spending, reaching US$14.2 billion.
For the holiday season from November 1 to December 31, Adobe Analytics also forecasts total online spending of US$253.4 billion this year, compared to US$241.1 billion in 2024.
Salesforce, a US cloud-based software company, reported that global Black Friday spending reached US$79 billion, including US$18 billion in the US, marking year-over-year (yoy) increases of 6% and 3%, respectively.
According to Salesforce data, prices increased by an average of 7%, while order volumes fell by 1%, suggesting that overall growth was driven more by price increases than stronger consumer demand. [antaranews]
