INDONESIA ALLOCATES US$765 MILLION STIMULUS FOR RAMADAN AND EID

THE INDONESIAN government has prepared IDR12.83 trillion (about US$765.4 million) in economic stimulus for the first quarter to support consumption during the Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday from February to March.

“We are preparing a stimulus package that reflects Indonesia’s economic growth,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said at the Indonesia Economic Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday (03/02), 2026.

The stimulus package includes transportation ticket discounts, toll road tariff cuts, and social assistance.

Of the total budget, around IDR200 billion is allocated for transportation discounts, while approximately IDR12 trillion is set aside for social assistance.

The government will offer airline ticket discounts of up to 16% through value-added tax incentives borne by the government for economy-class domestic flights. State airport operator Angkasa Pura will provide a 50% discount on airport service charges, while aviation fuel prices will also be reduced.

Ticket fare discounts of up to 30% will be applied to sea transportation and railway services. The government is also preparing toll road tariff discounts of up to 20%.

Social assistance will be provided in the form of 10 kilograms of rice and cooking oil for each beneficiary household over two months.

Hartarto said the stimulus package will be distributed during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 2026. [antaranews/photo special]
