BANK INDONESIA (BI) noted that Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves at the end of October 2026 remained maintained at US$146.8 billion, relatively stable compared to the position at the end of September of US$146.3 billion.
According to the Executive Director of the BI Communications Department, Ramdan Denny Prakoso, in a statement received in Sabang City, Aceh, Friday, said that the development of the foreign exchange reserve position was mainly influenced by the withdrawal of government foreign loans as well as tax and service revenues.
Meanwhile, payment of the government’s overdue foreign debt and BI’s policy of stabilizing the rupiah exchange rate also influenced the position of foreign exchange reserves amidst global financial market uncertainty which remained high.
The position of foreign exchange reserves at the end of October 2026 is equivalent to financing 5.3 months of imports or 5.2 months of imports and payment of government foreign debt, and is above the international adequacy standard of around three months of imports.
BI assesses that foreign exchange reserves are capable of supporting the resilience of the external sector, as well as maintaining macroeconomic and financial system stability.
Bank Indonesia said that going forward, it believes the external sector’s resilience will remain good, supported by an adequate foreign exchange reserve position and foreign capital inflows in line with investors’ positive perception of the national economic prospects and investment returns that remain attractive.
In addition, BI continues to increase synergy with the government in strengthening external resilience to maintain economic stability to support sustainable economic growth. [antaranews]
