‘THE HARMONY OF THE SPICE ISLAND’ THE THEME OF FESTIVAL TELUK JAILOLO 2021

THE tourism potential of West Halmahera Regency will certainly spoil the tourists who come. To attract this interest, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy provides support for the Festival Teluk Jailolo (FTJ) 2021 or Jailolo Bay Festival with the theme ‘The Harmony of the Spice Island’.

According to the Deputy for Tourism Products and Event Organizers, Rizki Handayani in a press release explained that FTJ 2021 is a regional promotion event that is carried out consistently every year. FTJ was re-elected in the Kharisma Event Nusantara (KEN) of the Tourism Ministry as one of the 10 best events in the category of adaptation and innovation-based events, after three consecutive years being included in the Calendar of Events of the Tourism Ministry.

“The Jailolo Bay Festival is very interesting because the theme taken by localize raises the potential of West Halmahera’s original tourism as an event to create a unique and memorable experience. Interestingly, this unique content can now be enjoyed online, as a form of innovation in the world of tourism events,” said Rizki.

Rizki Handayani added that the implementation of this year’s FTJ on June 9-12 2021 with the theme ‘The Harmony of the Spice Island’ meant that the diversity of customs and cultures, ethnic, racial and religious differences in West Halmahera was reunited in harmony with Ino Fo Makati Nyinga to awaken the potential of the Spice Islands to become a leading global tourist destination.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Halmahera Regency Tourism Office who is also the Chairperson of the Daily Committee, Fenny Kiat, said the implementation of the 2021 FTJ was slightly different from the previous one because it was still in the era of the new life order during the COVID-19 pandemic. FTJ which is usually synonymous with crowds, currently in its implementation must follow the Hybrid Event concept, namely online and offline systems.

“The euphoria of the FTJ this time will not be the same as the previous FTJ, for that the public is advised to continue to apply the Health, Cleanliness, Healthy, Safety and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) protocols wherever they are, namely wearing masks, washing hands in running water and maintaining a safe distance from crowds,” Fenny Kiat noted.

Fenny added, the implementation of this hybrid concept is intended to limit offline audiences in order to reduce the number of crowds in the event venue area. The public or visitors can watch the FTJ without having to come to the venue but can also be online via a live streaming channel for the promotion of the Regency Tourism Office West Halmahera.

Previously, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno greatly appreciated the holding of the Jailolo Bay Festival 2021 and it was hoped that this event could promote and elevate the tourism potential of the natural and marine beauty owned by West Hamahera.

“In addition, the Festival Teluk Jailolo 2021 can maintain the existence of West Halamera as a spice archipelago in Indonesia. And on this occasion I also want to invite the public to witness the event by implementing health protocols in a disciplined and strict manner, especially now the COVID-19 pandemic is still haunting us,” said Sandiaga in his speech which was read virtually.

He also invited the people in West Halmahera to be optimistic and rise if the tourism sector and the creative economy in the country would return to normal, and he believes that together we will be able to defeat COVID-19, “Together We Can!” [traveltext.id]
