THE Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) stated that it had socialized various rules in the use of marine space, especially those related to investment in the Raja Ampat area, West Papua.

According to the Acting Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision of KKP Antam Novambar in a press release in Jakarta, Sunday (6/13) said Law no. 11 of 2021 concerning Job Creation and its derivative regulations give more attention to the use of marine space, we need to socialize this to the community, including stakeholders involved in the utilization of marine space in the Raja Ampat region.

He said KKP in the era of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono showed his concern in promoting a balance in the use of marine space, including in Raja Ampat.

Antam also explained that one of the crucial mandates is related to foreign investment in the use of small islands and the surrounding waters.

The Job Creation Law, he continued, also regulates the mechanism for foreign investment so that it is truly beneficial to the surrounding community and does not harm the sustainability of marine and fishery resources.

“In accordance with the mandate of Article 26A, foreign investment must meet business permits from the Central Government and must comply with the laws and regulations in the investment sector,” said Antam.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director for Supervision of Marine Resources Management, Matheus Eko Rudianto ensures that PSDKP officers in the field will carry out supervision in accordance with the provisions of the applicable laws and regulations.

Therefore, he appealed to business actors to immediately take care of the required recommendations or permits. “Of course, we will carry out supervision according to applicable regulations,” said Eko.
