THE ICAD XI EVENT, INCREASES THE PASSION OF CREATIVE ECONOMY SECTOR

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy supports the Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD) XI as an effort to revive the passion of the creative economy sector in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, in his remarks via a video played at the opening ceremony of ICAD XI, recently said that his party continues to support every event that provides space for the development of design and art so that it can enrich tourist attractions and move regional economy.

“ICAD is a source of inspiration and insight for all of us. I hope that through this event, creative economy players in Indonesia can take a closer look and appreciate the wealth of art and design of the archipelago. Let’s take advantage of a platform like ICAD to advance the creative economy sector in Indonesia, because this sector has the potential to be supported and developed, so that it can provide benefits by opening up the widest possible employment opportunities and being able to prosper the community,” said Sandiaga Uno.

ICAD is the first and only exhibition that initiates collaboration in the design, arts, technology, entertainment and hospitality industries; involving interior designers, graphic designers, photographers, videographers, scenographers, painters, sculptors, film directors, and many other creators. The exhibition which will be held on 21 October-28 November 2021 at GrandKemang Jakarta, can also be accessed online through the official website https://www.arturaicad.com.

Held for the first time in 2009, this exhibition with the theme “public” has become a large-scale exhibition promoting contemporary design and art in Indonesia.

The ICAD show will not only take place at the main venue (grandkemang Hotel Jakarta) but also various venues and brands curated at #KEMANG12730 to celebrate the unique and unique design and art of South Jakarta. It will also feature various public activities, both physical and virtual in an effort to amplify this experience.

ICAD XI also expands its connections through dynamic partnerships with local and international cultural institutions, the press, and various lifestyle-related businesses. The exhibition itself will be concentrated into several categories, namely In Focus (invited leading artists and designers from Indonesia), Guest Artists (invited international artists and designers), Next Gen (innovative young artists invited), and Open Submission.

In a concerted effort to achieve this, ICAD has built its foundation by offering curated exhibitions and programmes, highlighting contemporary creations and innovations. ICAD also partners with prestigious international platforms, such as the Milan SuperDesign Show, La Biennale in Venice, and the London Design Biennale, in curating and presenting Indonesian art and design to the world.

Meanwhile the ICAD XI Steering Committee, Diana Nazir, said the pandemic had a major impact on people’s lives. We are faced with challenges and forced to adapt and change.

“The way we work, communicate, make choices, and seek information has changed, in large part because of our willingness to adopt new digital tools and services. In the future, COVID-19 will not take away the value of face-to-face exhibitions; rather, it creates new ways to present it more creatively,” she said. [traveltext.id]
