EDUARD R. PANGKEREGO: ARTOTEL GROUP TARGETS TO MANAGE 250 HOTELS BY 2024

ARTOTEL Group is an Indonesian hotel management operator which is currently aggressively expanding its hotel business, even until 2024 is targeted to be able to manage 250 of its hotel chains.

According to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of ARTOTEL Group, Eduard R. Pangkerego explained, currently the company has only managed 54 hotel chains. Therefore, the ARTOTEL Group will continue to boost the acquisition of other hotel network operators.

However, when asked about the continuation of the expansion, Eduard Pangkerego immediately replied that we currently have a due diligence, but we can’t announce it yet. However, ARTOTEL Group expansion cannot be separated from the opportunities seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eduard explained, during the last pandemic, the entire hotel business in Indonesia collapsed so that ARTOTEL Group tried to see other opportunities to continue to develop their business. We saw that those living in the pandemic period were startups with game valuations, so we also tried to play there selling business plans.

“Well, the company has also obtained funding and currently ARTOTEL Group has received series C funding. Through these funds, we have made derivative investments with the acquisition of hotel operators to grow bigger. One of them is our investment in the DAFAM Hotel Management (DHM) network and also KYRIAD,” he said.

Meanwhile, in the short term, continued Eduard R Pangkergo, ARTOTELGroup targets to be able to manage 150 hotels by December 2022. In addition to acquisitions, the company is also boosting its target by building its hotels of which 29 hotels are currently being built.

“However, it is projected that only 4 hotels will be opened due to a slowdown in construction due to the pandemic. From operations, I see that hotel performance is also starting to improve. This is because the hotel occupancy in Jakarta has reached 90%. Therefore, we are targeting revenue we can return to 2019 before the pandemic plus 20%,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, he added that to develop new tourist destinations in eastern Indonesia, we have collaborated with PT Nahna Maju to build and manage Myze Hotel, ARTOTEL Curated, located in East Sumba. This plan was marked by the laying of the first stone which was held last May.

“As for Myze Hotel, ARTOTEL Curated will be a 4-star hotel with the first resort and villa concept managed by the ARTOTEL Group in eastern Indonesia,” Eduard Pangkerego noted.

He explained that ARTOTEL Group is an Indonesian hotel management operator that integrates 4 business units, Hotel (Stay), Food & Beverages (Dine), Event Management (Play), & Curated Merchandise (Shop).

“Carrying the Lifestyle brand concept, ARTOTEL Group offers a variety of accommodation options from economy hotels, boutiques, middle class to luxury hotels to meet the accommodation needs of all target markets.
