RI ENCOURAGES ASEAN PLUS 3 TO INCREASE COLLABORATION IN AWAKEN TOURISM SECTOR

THE INDONESIAN (RI) government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages ASEAN Plus Three (APT) member countries to work together in revitalizing the post-pandemic tourism sector.

According to the Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani when leading the 41st ASEAN Plus Three National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) Meeting which was held virtually, Wednesday (7/06), conveyed the importance of continuing the cooperation that had been established in the ASEAN Plus Three framework, and that includes cooperation in the tourism sector.

“We hope to have a more cooperative collaboration that will benefit the ASEAN community as well as Japan, China and Korea,” said Ni Wayan Giri Adyani.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency, tourist visits from China, Japan and Korea to Indonesia are quite significant, such as visits from China during the period January to April 2022 totaling 15,202 visits. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will continue to explore the potential for cooperation with China.

“We continue to strengthen tourism cooperation, we are currently carrying out collaborative activities with Online Travel Agents (OTA) such as Trip.com and Tuniu. We also have plans to conduct a Familiarization Trip with media from China in September 2022 in Labuan Bajo and Bali,” she noted.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also maintains the China-Indonesia flight route, through the Garuda airline, namely the route from Hong Kong-Jakarta with a schedule of 1 time per week, and the Guangzhou-Jakarta route with a daily schedule.

Meanwhile, via South China with the Shenzhen-Jakarta route with a daily flight schedule, and via Cathay Pacific with the Hong Kong-Jakarta route with a schedule of 1 time per week.

“On this occasion, Indonesia looks forward to a more productive and fruitful cooperation with China, including to introduce some new tourism products and have some joint activities in the future,” she stated.

Furthermore, Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani said that Indonesia had also collaborated with Japan in organizing a Familiarization Trip with media from Japan in February 2022 in Bali.

“In the near future we also have plans to participate in the Tourism Expo Japan in September 2022 in Tokyo. Indonesia and the ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC) are also cooperating in increasing the capacity of game developers through seminars and Showcasing: the Rise of the Video Game Industry. which will be held in Bandung on February 22, 2022 in a hybrid way,” Ni Wayan Giri Adnyani pointed out.

She added that this seminar was also held to enlarge their business and provide guidance and support in accordance with international standards. We recorded more than 200 offline and online participants joining us in the seminar.

Meanwhile, she continued, the cooperation between Indonesia and Korea, based on statistical data from Indonesia, there were about 6,887 visitors from the Republic of Korea from January to April 2022. I hope that with this forum, Indonesia-Korea can continue to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

“On this occasion, I also exchanged information regarding the best measures and practices to reduce the impact of COVID-19 in ASEAN Plus Three member countries, including travel requirements. Indonesia is pleased to inform at this meeting that information about our relaxation policy, health protocols, and visa requirements can be easily accessed,” she concluded. [traveltex.id]
