TOURISM MINISTRY INVITES THE PUBLIC TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF G20

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy invites the public to support the implementation of the G20 Summit, which will culminate in November 2022.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Breifing which took place in a hybrid manner from the Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (10/24), said that one thing the community could do was to build a positive narrative of the G20 Summit starting from preparation to the implementation of the G20 Summit.

So, he continued that the international event which is predicted to bring in more than 50 thousand tourists can run smoothly and have a broad impact on the community, especially in supporting economic revival and opening up employment opportunities.

“This positive narrative will be very necessary to give confidence to all tourists and delegates (G20 Summit) in particular, to immediately visit and travel in Bali,” said Minister Sandiaga Uno.

The government, both the central government and the Bali regional government and other related parties, said Sandiaga, is trying their best in preparing for the event which is predicted to boost domestic consumption by IDR1.7 trillion and increase national GDP by IDR7.4 trillion.

One of the things that the government is now paying attention to is the natural disasters that occurred in several areas in Bali due to high rainfall.

“We are very concerned and express our deep sympathy for the disaster incident in the midst of G20 preparations. But recently the Governor of Bali has given assurances that all parties are ready to continue to be on standby and ensure that G20 preparations remain on track on 15-16 November 2022,” Sandiaga stated.

Recently, the National Disaster Management Agency has conducted a Table Top Exercise and Tactical Floor Game with the theme “Integrated Disaster Emergency Management Task Force Facing Disasters in the Bali Region in the Framework of the 2022 G20 Indonesia Presidency”.

“We appreciate BNPB who have prepared a Task Force and also the Bali Provincial Government who work together to overcome the flash floods and landslides that occurred. We all pray for the best and we muster our efforts to mitigate and overcome disasters,” Sandiaga noted.

“We also urge the public to be careful and vigilant in carrying out quality and sustainable tourism practices, including ensuring that waste is managed faithfully and maintaining a balance between nature, culture and humans,” he remarked.

On this occasion, Sandiaga, also conveyed matters related to the draft Criminal Code (KUHP) which was considered counterproductive to the tourism sector. Especially in Article 415 and Article 416 of the draft Criminal Code concerning criminal threats for adultery. Currently the RKUHP is still in the discussion stage so that input from the public, especially hoteliers, can still be considered.

“We have received several inputs from industry players and tourism players, we really appreciate and accommodate all inputs, especially those relating to that some articles are considered counterproductive to the tourism sector. We will complete all of these inputs and we will convey the conclusions to our partners in Commission X DPR,” Sandiaga said.

He explained, I hope these inputs can be a proper consideration in the future. We do not want tourism and the creative economy to get a negative narrative and may disrupt economic revival and job creation.

“We make sure that this will not reduce the interest of tourists to travel and hotel entrepreneurs will not lose or get the potential for canceling from prospective buyers and tourists,” Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
