‘SECOND HOME VISA’, FOREIGNERS CAN STAY 10 YEARS IN RI: IMMIGRATION

INDONESIA’S Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights issued a limited second home visa policy for certain foreign nationals.

In the Circular Letter signed by the Acting Director General of Immigration, Widodo Ekatjahjana, it is stated that foreigners who get this second home visa have the right to stay in Indonesia (RI) for 5 or 10 years.

“Visas and limited stay permit for second homes allow foreigners to stay in Indonesian territory for a period of 5 years or 10 years,” as quoted from the circular letter, Tuesday (10/25).

The subject of this visa is a foreigner who wants to stay and contribute to the economy in Indonesia. This second home visa application is submitted by the particular foreigner himself or the guarantor to the Immigration party through the application.

Applicants must meet the requirements, among others, a valid nationality passport and valid for at least 36 months, proof of funds or a number of funds or luxury category property belonging to foreigners or their guarantors with a minimum value of IDR2 billion.

Then, the latest photo size 4 x 6 centimeters, white background, and curriculum vitae. The proof of funds guaranteed can be in the form of an account belonging to a foreigner at a State-Owned Bank or proof of ownership of luxury properties in Indonesia.

“On behalf of foreigners in accordance with the laws and regulations in the land/agrarian sector,” Widodo said as quoted from the circular letter.

The circular letter stated that the background of the policy was based on the results of a cross-sectoral evaluation on October 9.

The meeting agreed on the need for an easy and fast visa and residence permit policy to facilitate foreigners who will stay in Indonesia for a long time.

Another background is because the government feels the need to take strategic steps to minimize the impact of the global economic slowdown on Indonesia.
