SANDIAGA: GOV’T EFFORTS TO COLLABORATE WITH INT’L MUSICIANS TO PERFORM HERE

INDONESIAN Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, revealed the government’s efforts to attract world-class musicians to perform in Indonesia.

Minister Sandiaga Uno during The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno in Jakarta, Monday (03/13), 2024, explained that his party had coordinated with President Jokowi and the Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment to update the potential for holding world event activities in Indonesia, not only music but also sports, and other events.

“So, we immediately followed up, we got information from Australia, Japan and Singapore. On March 8, 2024, I met with the Minister of Sustainability and Environment as well as the Acting Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Grace Fu, in which there was potential for collaboration to bring international class events to Indonesia,” said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga elaborated that the government’s efforts to attract world-class musicians to perform in Indonesia include providing easy licensing. With the presence of the Music Performer Visa, which is a breakthrough, the Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights can facilitate the licensing of international musicians to perform concerts in Indonesia and advance the country’s music industry.

“Regarding the Music Performer Visa and this is also the Director General of Immigration’s breakthrough, we give applause and appreciation to the Director General for making it easier to permit international musicians to perform concerts in Indonesia which is advancing the country’s music industry. So, there is a single-entry visa that can be obtained online, and has been used by Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Twice and the Jonas Brothers,” he remarked.

The second effort is through matching funds. In accordance with the President’s direction, the government is forming the Indonesia Tourism Fund which is preparing IDR2 trillion to support the organization of national and international events in Indonesia.

“We hope that this will become a mentoring fund that will be able to facilitate and provide incentives for visits by musicians and world-class creative economy actors, including sporting events,” Sandiaga added.

Apart from that, the government is also accelerating event licensing services through digitalization. The government has also been present by collaborating multi-party and across sectors, including the regional government and security parties in organizing the event.

Regarding infrastructure, he explained that Indonesia already has various capable venues, such as Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Ancol, Prambanan Temple, Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK), whose deficiencies are now continuing to be corrected after holding the last concert.

“But make sure there is room for improvement so that there is no traffic jam there, the exit is also fast and everything refers to best practice with public transportation as the backbone,” he pointed out.

The next effort is safety and security. According to him, a healthy business ecosystem and improving the quality of human resources are very important. So, this can attract world-class musicians such as Coldplay, Jonas Brother, Ed Sheeran, to perform in Indonesia, and the Hammersonic Festival will be coming soon.

“We are sure that this will continue, and it is leaked that there are several big artists who are going to Indonesia, we cannot release this yet because it is definitely still being finalized at the final stage. We want visits from foreign tourists to increase the country’s foreign exchange,” Sandiaga concluded. [traveltext.id]
