THE NUMBER of Indonesian families looking to travel during the school holidays has increased this year, according to search data on the Agoda platform, up 24% compared to last year. Malaysia is the top destination for international tourists, while Bali remains a favorite within the country.
Based on Agoda accommodation searches for family travel between June 15-July 15, the most searched for destinations by Indonesian families were Bali, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Puncak and Malang. Interest in these cities is also growing, especially for various mid-year holidays such as Eid al-Adha on June 17-18 and the Islamic New Year on July 7.
As for overseas destinations, Kuala Lumpur is the top choice for Indonesian families to go on vacation, followed by destinations such as Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok and Osaka.
According to Gede Gunawan, Senior Country Director at Agoda, said school vacations are a special time to travel, especially for Indonesian families. Traveling with loved ones can enhance the experience of celebrating Eid al-Adha and welcoming the Islamic New Year.
