DELAYS are the thing that travelers don’t like the most when boarding a plane. Apart from making it take longer on the road, this can certainly damage the holiday itinerary that has been prepared.
However, in the world of aviation, delays are often a part that is difficult to avoid. Starting from weather factors, aircraft technical problems, to traffic congestion, various things outside of one’s control can affect the timeliness of flights.
So, how well are world airlines performing in overcoming this problem? Reporting from the nine.travel.com.au page, the Flighty travel application released a list of airlines with the highest delay rates in the world based on flight data from its users throughout 2025.
From this analysis, Flighty noted that frequent flyers traveled a total of 22 million flights this year. However, due to delays, passengers had to spend additional waiting time of up to 1.4 million hours. On average, each flight is delayed by around 14 minutes.
The Most Frequently Delayed Airlines
British low-cost airline, Ryanair, is ranked first as the airline with the most frequent delays globally. The next positions are occupied by Air France and easyJet.
In the United States, Frontier Airlines was recorded as the airline with the highest delay rate, followed by JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines.
Meanwhile, the Australian airline, Qantas, is ranked sixth on the list of the most frequently late airlines in the world. Flighty data shows that around 26 percent of Qantas flights experience delays.
