TRAVELLERS with the Business Travel Pass scheme will be required to undergo an additional COVID-19 test when they return to Singapore, said the Singapore Ministry of Health.
Currently, these travelers have to undergo COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests upon returning to Singapore rather than appeal for self-isolation at home. They are also required to be isolated in one location until they get negative results on their arrival.
As an added precaution, travelers with this scheme are now required to have a PCR test for COVID-19 on their third, seventh and 14th day of return. Additional serologic tests will also be needed on the third day, the MOH said.
“These enhanced testing requirements serve to minimize the risk of potential incubation cases leaking to the public. Tourists should also avoid events with more than eight participants within 14 days of returning to Singapore,” the Health Ministry added.
The Business Travel Pass scheme was introduced in June 2020 to facilitate essential business travel for Singapore-based senior executives with regional or international responsibilities who need to travel regularly for work.
Travelers under this scheme are required to adhere to a strictly controlled itinerary when traveling. When they return to Singapore, they are required to use TraceTogether, avoid all forms of public transportation within 14 days of their return, adhere to safe management measures in their workplace and comply with all other applicable measures that apply to local residents.
Since adherence to border measures in this scheme is essential to safeguard public health and help curb potential transmission of COVID-19 to the community, Business Travel Pass holders must comply with the border measures in this scheme or risk having their Business Travel Pass revoked.
“We will continue to carefully monitor the global situation and public health outcomes of this scheme in order to strike a calibrated balance between the safety of local communities and continuing business trips to support our overall economic recovery.” [antaranews/photo special]
