INDONESIA’S Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that the number of applicants for Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification reached 4,771 industry players.
“Our target is to reach 8,000 (industry players), but we want to cooperate with the private sector and pentahelix so that the target is even more,” he said in the online Weekly Press Briefing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in Jakarta, Monday (8/9).
He hopes that CHSE can be applied in totality, so that when the Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) is completed, it will return to normal and activities will run as usual.
In addition, Sandiaga explained the development of information that the handling of COVID-19 at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy decreased to the level of 63 active cases. In a sense, decreased from its peak which reached more than 140 active cases or decreased by 50%.
The Tourism Ministry is trying to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by creating 22 vaccination centers as of August 7, 2021. Minister Sandiaga stated that since February 2021, the Tourism Ministry has vaccinated more than 160,000 people from tourism and creative economy players.
“Our target until September 2021 is to vaccinate more than 450,000 people and tourism and creative economy players. We will collaborate and take action with all parties,” he remarked.
Previously, in a meeting with the City Government and the Bandung City Indonesian Hotel Restaurant Association, Thursday (29/7), Sandiaga Uno explained that vaccination is very important as one of the pillars in efforts to suppress the spread of COVID-19 through communal immunity.
Regarding the CHSE issue, Minister Sandiaga invited business players, in this case the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), to work with the government to expand the reach of CHSE certification. With that, the level of readiness of tourism business players and the creative economy in their operations in the era of adaptation to new habits is getting bigger.
“This CHSE certification must really become the gold standard. If there is a mutual cooperation vaccine, why is there no CHSE gotong royong? The pilot project can be started from the city of Bandung,” he noted.
Minister Sandiaga concluded that CHSE certification is one of the things that is always communicated to the market, both domestic and foreign. Therefore, I encourage tourism and economic business actors to be able to register their businesses. [traveltext.id]
