INDONESIA’S Finance Minister, Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the government had reserved a budget of Rp 9.2 trillion to support the recovery of the tourism sector in 2022 from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

“There is a currently reserved budget of IDR9.2 trillion for next year. In detail, the reserves for the recovery of the national tourism sector include allocations from central government expenditures of IDR6.5 trillion and IDR2.8 trillion through transfers to the regions,” she said in the 2021 Tourism & Creative Economy National Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, Monday (9/27).

Sri Mulyani said that the IDR9.2 trillion budget will be used to develop tourism and the creative economy from three aspects, namely accessibility, attractions and accessibility as well as from the promotion side and participation of private players.

Meanwhile, there is a budget of IDR7.67 trillion for tourism recovery this year with programs such as Proud Made in Indonesia IDR200 billion, a film stimulus of IDR266 billion, as well as health facilities for handling COVID-19 and health workers of IDR298.6 billion.

These various efforts also support super priority tourism destinations, namely Lake Toba, Borobudur, Mandalika, Labuan Bajo, and Likupang, so that they are ready when there is a relaxation step for opening foreign and domestic tourists.
