CREATIVE ECONOMY EXPORTS REACH US$20 BILLION, RI IS TOP 3 IN THE WORLD

THE GLOBAL creative economy sector is gradually recovering along with the COVID-19 pandemic which is starting to improve. This condition is accompanied by Indonesia’s (RI) creative economy which is also recovering.

According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Wednesday (5/11) said that the projected creative economy recovery has returned to the target where Indonesia is in the top 3 in the world. After America with Hollywood and Korea with K-pop.

“Indonesia’s position is due to Indonesia’s positive achievements in the creative economy sector. The export value obtained by Indonesia from this sector even reached US$20 billion. Indonesia is now in the top three in the world with added value of more than IDR1,200 trillion and export value which has reached US$20 billion, far above the target,” he said.

Sandiaga explained, the export value far exceeded the target, where in 2022 the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is actually targeting an export value of US$16.83 billion. Meanwhile, the targets for 2023 and 2024 are US$17.71 billion and US$18.59 billion, respectively.

“Meanwhile, for the added value target (GDP) the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is targeting IDR1,279 trillion in 2023 and IDR1,347 trillion in 2024. This achievement is also accompanied by the recovery of employment in the creative economy sector,” Sandiaga stated.

He added that the number of workers who have now returned to 20 million workers in the creative economy sector. The trend of digitization has also contributed to the growth of the creative economy sector.

“Revenue from the digital advertising sector was able to generate revenues of US$3.2 billion. Then from the TV and video sub-sector revenues reached US$1.4 billion. Then from the e-book sector revenues reached US$119 million and revenues from the digital music sub-sector reached US$280 million,” Minister Sandiaga concluded. [sources/photo special]
