THE DUTCH government, along with Luxembourg and Belgium, followed Germany to refuse an Indonesian passport visa application because it did not have the holder’s signature column starting Monday (10/10).
“Starting October 10, the Netherlands (together with Belgium and Luxembourg) will only recognize Indonesian passports for visa applications if there is a holder’s signature or a signature through an endorsement stamp from an Indonesian Immigration official or consular official at Indonesian representatives abroad,” the Dutch embassy for Indonesia wrote on Friday (10/7).
The Dutch Embassy then advised Indonesian passport holders to ask for a stamp of approval from the immigration authorities or Indonesian foreign representative offices.
It should be noted that visa applications submitted after that date will be rejected by the Dutch Government. However, visa applications submitted during the transition will continue to be processed and are only valid in the Schengen Area.
“Visa applications that have been submitted with Indonesian passports do not contain the holder’s signature will be processed during the transition period which ends on October 10, 2022,” said the Dutch Embassy. [sources/photo special]
