MINISTER of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono said that the construction of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN) will continue according to the government’s plan in the midst of the political year approaching the 2024 elections.
“Continue, for me there is no problem. The government also continues to convince investors that the construction of a new capital city in East Kalimantan to replace Jakarta will continue,” Basuki said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday (4/28), 2023.
The continuation of the IKN development, said Basuki, has been shown by the government since the discourse was first rolled out. Although there are many pros and cons, the construction of the future city continues until now, where it has entered the physical construction of a number of infrastructure and government offices.
“It’s been like that for a long time, but we are still convinced. Indeed, there are already some who are said to have entered the Letter of Intent (LoI). I have followed up on the wishes of investors through coordination with the IKN Authority. Through me, we have submitted several ‘LoIs’ to the Authority,” he said.
The government, said Basuki, already has a legal basis for the IKN Law along with all derivative regulations. Therefore, investors are expected not to doubt the sustainability of the IKN development.
The PUPR Ministry has previously released an official map of the detailed spatial plan (RDTR) and land use of the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim). The map also describes the appearance of the core government center area (KIPP) in IKN with an area of 6,600 hectares.
As of early April 2023, the average achievement of physical development in the Capital City of the Archipelago (IKN), East Kalimantan, has reached 25%. The PUPR Ministry is building the Government Center Core Area (KIPP) such as the presidential office, presidential palace, offices for four coordinating ministers, ministerial housing complexes, toll roads, arterial roads, dams, national axes, wastewater treatment plants (IPAL), waste treatment plants, drinking water treatment plants, and other infrastructure.
