DIGITAL technology has now become the main support that provides great opportunities for the progress of the tourism industry in Indonesia.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, digital technology in Indonesia has become a backbone and an opportunity for all of us to develop our business sector by exploiting all existing potential, including opportunities for tourism businesses.
He emphasized that all industries, including the tourism industry, must continue to innovate with new ideas so that they can develop even though the turbulent geopolitical situation, economic slowdown and potential natural disasters continue.
“I appreciate the initiative to develop tourism businesses by the private sector as an example of positive collaboration between tourism business actors and the creative economy in tourist villages with the private sector for the advancement of national tourism,” Sandiaga stated.
Sandiaga added that awarding appreciation to tourism business actors helps them adapt to the digital ecosystem in order to develop their business.
“This program is also very close to my heart because this is our effort to develop tourist villages so that it is not Indonesia that builds villages, but rather tourist villages that encourage Indonesia’s growth,” he remarked.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is committed to developing sustainable and quality community-based tourism through tourist villages, as directed by President Joko Widodo.
He explained, moreover, the commitment to support the development of tourist villages is already in the 2020-2024 RPJMN (National Medium Term Development Plan) and we are prioritizing the potential for optimal local wisdom and creative economy.
“To achieve this, the Ministry will continue to expand business space, create jobs, empower Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), and generate added value for the community’s economy,” concluded Sandiaga. [sources/photo special]
