THE Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation serves 107 pioneer ship routes in 2024 to realize connectivity in remote areas.
“This year, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation again held a pioneering sea ship transportation of 107 routes serving 43 Pangkal Ports, spread across 22 provinces in Indonesia, and serving more than 496 Singgah Ports,” said Director General of Sea Transportation, Antoni Arif Priadi in his statement In Jakarta, Saturday (01/27), 2024.
The Directorate General of Sea Transportation said that the pioneering ship service was dedication to providing better and comprehensive accessibility of transportation, especially for residents who live in remote areas that are difficult to reach or have not been served by private commercial shipping.
“We understand the importance of transportation connectivity in remote areas. By organizing perintis sea sea transportation, we try to bring transportation services closer to people in isolated areas, where land access may be limited,” he said.
Therefore, Antoni emphasized that the Directorate General of Hubla was committed to continuing to improve the pioneer ship transport service to provide maximum benefits for the community.
He explained that sea pioneer ship transportation was one of the backbones of transportation connectivity in Indonesia which continues to be the main focus of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation. This commitment is to improve this service to provide maximum benefits for people in all regions of Indonesia, especially in the foremost, outermost, remote and border areas (3TP).
Meanwhile, Director of Traffic and Sea Transportation, Hendri Ginting revealed based on the results of the evaluation of 116-units of the DG DG Hubla ships showed that 99 units of ships were seawater and ready for operation. While one ship unit is still in the process of completing development, namely KM Sabuk Nusantara 74.
“This is a significant step in ensuring that the pioneering ship fleet is ready to serve the community with the best performance,” he remarked.
In an efficiency effort, the pioneering vessel route network had experienced adjustments from 117 routes in 2023 to 107 routes in 2024. The selection of routes was carried out by considering the number of pioneer ships that were sea worthless, as many as 100-units of state pioneers, and 7-units of owned ships Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) Transportation.
“This adjustment was made by considering the route network slices that coincide and the level of passenger/goods occupancy at the Singgah Port. Although the efficiency of the route network has been carried out, it is certain that each Singgah Port proposed by the local government is still served by a pioneer ship,” Hendri said.
“As a result of this efficiency, all pioneering sea transportation routes in 2024 will be served using passenger ships. This is expected to provide a more comfortable and efficient travel experience for people throughout Indonesia,” he noted.
The Directorate General of Sea Transportation said that the pioneer ship was a vital means of transportation to open access to remote areas that were difficult to reach by land or air. This allows people in remote areas to connect with economic, health and education centers.
With open access to transportation, remote areas have the opportunity to develop their economic sectors. The existence of pioneering ships can encourage local economic growth through trade, tourism, and other sectors. [antaranews]
