STATE-run airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) recorded 7.4 million passenger movements during the 2024 Eid al-Fitr holiday period from April 3 to April 18. The number reflected an increase of three percent as compared to the Eid al-Fitr holiday period in 2023, with 7.2 million air passenger movements recorded.
“This is certainly a very encouraging thing amid the increasing interest of people in traveling by air transportation,” InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi noted in a statement from InJourney Airports in Jakarta on Saturday (04/20), 2024.
The increase in the number of passenger movements was also accompanied by a growth in the number of aircraft movements, recorded at 55,572, as per the 2024 Eid command post data. This figure showed an increase of three percent as compared to 54,189 movements during the 2023 Eid holiday period.
Fahmi lauded all airport community institutions for the synergy in supporting the operations of its 2024 Eid Command Post, so that flight operations could run safely and comfortably.
During the Eid holiday period, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Banten, was the busiest airport, with 2.5 million passenger movements and 16,961 aircraft movements.
Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport came second, with one million passenger movements and 6,157 aircraft movements recorded, while Juanda International Airport, East Java, is in third place, with 697 thousand passenger movements and 4,476 aircraft movements.
During the peak of the 2024 Eid exodus period on Saturday (April 6), some 577,490 passenger movements and 4,157 aircraft movements were recorded.
Meanwhile, during the peak of the 2024 Eid exodus return flow on Monday (April 15), some 570,748 passenger movements and 3,805 aircraft movements were recorded.
Furthermore, InJourney Airports has provided 4,112 additional flights from the plan of providing 5,127 additional flights. [antaranews/photo special]
