INDONESIA’s creative economy sector showed good performance until the first quarter of 2024, as evidenced by the achievement of creative economy value added, which is estimated to reach IDR749.58 trillion or 55.65% of the target of IDR1,347 trillion.
According to the Ministry’s Senior Expert Staff, Nia Niscaya, in “The Weekly Brief with Sandi Uno” at Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (08/12), 2024 said that the second semester can hopefully be achieved and maybe it can be more grateful, thank God.
“There are three leading sectors for creative economy added value, namely culinary, fashion and handicrafts. These three sub-sectors were obtained from data from the Deputy for Strategic Policy, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, who conducted a survey of creative economy sector actors. This is related to the added value of the creative economy,” said Nia.
Nia added that in terms of exports, the government is targeting the contribution of the creative economy to reach US$27.53 billion. Based on data from the Director General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance in the first half of 2024, the value of creative economy exports was US$12.36 billion. This value shows an increase of 4.46% compared to the same period last year (yoy) as a result of the increase in demand for handicraft and fashion exports. In total, this export has reached 44.89%.
“The value of creative economy exports based on raw materials is dominated by 4 sectors, namely fashion US$6,767.62 million, handicrafts US$4,755.79 million, culinary US$829.66 million and publishing US$6.15 million,” she affirmed.
She also explained that domestic tourists are more for culinary because Indonesian people when traveling are number one looking for typical food, well, it’s different from exports, number one is fashion then handicrafts, culinary and publishing.
“Well, for the top 5 export destination countries, including the United States with US$4,078.09 million, Switzerland US$908.47 million, Japan US$619.28 million, Hong Kong US$582.63 million, and India US$541.78 million. These are data or achievements related to the creative economy sector, especially two components, namely the creative economy value added component and the creative economy export component, from the 9 components of the tourism ministry’s Key Performance Indicators (IKU),” concluded Nia Niscaya.
