THE GARUDA Indonesia Group has prepared a total of 350 additional flights, both Garuda Indonesia and Citilink airlines, in anticipation of a surge in passengers during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024.
“We have additional extra flights, both Garuda and Citilink, a total of almost 350. So we also understand that many will be flying, so we anticipate this by adding extra flights,” said Garuda Indonesia President Director Wamildan Tsani Panjaitan when met at the Sapta Pesona Building in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/17), 2024.
He added that the management will also be directly involved in supervising flight operations in Jakarta and other major cities during the holiday period.
Wamildan also said that during the Christmas and New Year holidays in 2024, Garuda Indonesia will reduce ticket prices by 10% specifically for domestic routes. As previously reported, the implementation of the policy to reduce ticket prices for the Christmas and New Year period is a follow-up to the directive of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.
He said that the effort to reduce ticket prices is to help the public ease the burden of traveling ahead of the long holiday period at the end of the year. This will also support the recovery of the economic sector, especially the tourism and creative industries.
The reduction in ticket prices, which is expected to reach 10%, is partly due to the supporting components of ticket prices. These components include the fuel surcharge, PJP2U and PJP4U, as well as adjustments to avtur at a number of airports.
“This ticket price reduction has also been carefully calculated by taking into consideration the projected passenger growth during the year-end holidays. Therefore, with the implementation of this ticket price reduction, we are optimistic that passenger volume will grow positively, which will certainly have a direct impact on Garuda Indonesia’s revenue performance,” Wamildan concluded.
