CHINESE TOURISTS VISIT INCREASE, SHENZHEN-JAKARTA FLIGT ROUTE RE-OPENS

THE INDONESIAN Ministry of Tourism hopes that Chinese tourist visits to Indonesia will increase, following the re-operation of direct Shenzhen Airlines flights on the Shenzhen-Jakarta route on October 20 2026.

According to the Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini said the re-operation of the Shenzhen-Jakarta route is a positive development that the tourism industry has long awaited.

“The presence and re-operation of this flight is a proactive step in accommodating the increase in foreign tourist visits,” said Ni Made in her statement, as quoted on Friday (23/10), 2026.

She hopes that the return of flight services on the Shenzhen-Jakarta route will further facilitate the mobility of Chinese tourists to Indonesia, especially via Jakarta as one of the main entry points for foreign tourists, as well as opening up travel opportunities to various Indonesian tourist destinations.

“We hope that the re-operation of this route can attract more foreign tourists to Indonesia in a sustainable manner,” she said.

Ni Made added that the availability of direct flights has an important role in increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian tourism in the international market.

According to her, easy access to travel not only provides comfort for tourists, but also expands opportunities for destinations and the national tourism industry to reach potential markets.

On its first flight, Shenzhen Airlines with number ZH161 departed from Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) on Monday (19/10) at 20.55 Shenzhen time (19.55 WIB) and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) on Tuesday (20/10) at 00.55 WIB.

For the reverse route, flight ZH162 departs from Jakarta at 01.55 WIB and arrives in Shenzhen at 08.05 local time (07.05 WIB). This direct flight service operates three times a week, namely every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday from Shenzhen to Jakarta, and every Tuesday, Thursday and early Sunday morning from Jakarta to Shenzhen.

With this flight frequency, tourists have more choices of practical and efficient travel schedules without having to go through transit flights.

Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism shows that the number of tourist visits from China to Indonesia reached 1,054,007 during the period January to August 2026. This figure increased by 16.46% compared to the same period in 2025, namely 905,002 visits.

This growth reflects the large potential of the Chinese market for Indonesian tourism, as well as providing momentum to expand marketing cooperation and increase ease of access for tourists to various leading destinations. [traveltext.id]
