IT is PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk which reviews flight routes to Europe. The move is intended as part of the restructuring of the airline’s business focus.
According to Garuda Indonesia Commerce Director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah said flight routes to Europe were considered not a priority. For this reason, Garuda will focus on working on domestic and Asian flights, especially the Middle East, Japan and Korea.
“We will strengthen domestic as a backbond. I think it is not too urgent for Europe, we are reviewing because there are also many players. So we are currently evaluating together,” Pikri said.
Pikri revealed, one of the European routes that had been stopped was a flight to London. He said, the flight route to be chosen by Garuda considers the competence and profitability that can be achieved.
“For the business model, we will evaluate it. We will fly according to strong competencies. We have suspended London. We will see profitability and so on,” explained Pikri.
Furthermore, Pikri said that the move had been submitted to Minister Erick Thohir as part of efforts to improve company performance.
“Earlier in the discussion Minister Erick Thohir also asked, about what needs to be improved at Garuda? I would say in terms of business, we restructure our business focus,” he said without explaining in more detail the restructuring of the business focus in question. [special photo]
