CITILINK INDONESIA TARGETS A 20% INCREASE IN PASSENGER NUMBERS IN 2020

THE subsidiary of PT Garuda Indonesia Tbk, namely Citilink Indonesia, has decreased the number of passengers by 10% in November 2019. However, by 2020 Citilink is targeting a growth of 22%.

According to Citilink Indonesia’s Corporate Secretary VP, Resty Kusandarina said the decline was caused by the improvement of road infrastructure in the Java region and stagnant economic growth in 2019.

“Based on our analysis, this is due to road improvements and a stagnant economy. The IMF and the Ministry of Finance said, Indonesia’s economic growth in 2019 is estimated to have fallen from 5.4% to 5.3%. So passengers tend to refrain from traveling by plane,” Resty said.

Furthermore, Citilink is more optimistic about seeing Indonesia’s economic growth of 5.6% as conveyed in the 2020 State Expenditure Budget Draft (APBN), which will impact on increasing the number of passengers. [photo special]
