BOROBUDUR MARATHON 2020 IS EXPECTED TO A TRIGGER FOR THE RISE OF TOURISM

BOROBUDUR Marathon which is scheduled to take place in mid-November 2020 is expected to be a trigger for the revival of tourism in Magelang, Central Java and Indonesia.

According to the Head of the Department of Youth, Sports, and Tourism of Central Java Province, Sinoeng Nugroho Rachmadi said the Borobudur Marathon will be held in mid-November 2020. Hopefully the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic in Magelang Regency is really sloping and taking the floor.

“Will there be certain limitations for runners’ quota, this is being discussed. For example runners from abroad are restricted. Foreign runners from the red zone countries do not yet. So it is restricted to foreign ones, we will open the ones from the archipelago. But this is not a final decision, it is still under discussion,” he said.

Touching on the evaluation of the operational trials of the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park on June 25-July 9, 2020, Sinoeng conveyed that the current condition of people traveling was not yet optimal.

“The capacity of 1,500 provided per day during the operational trial period, it turns out from the report that I briefly read Borobudur visited by about 200 to 400 tourists per day,” he noted.

He conveyed that the application of health protocols for tourists was quite strict, but his side regretted that it was outside the Borobudur crowd crowds.

“This is what I later proposed to the Regent of Magelang whether there were officers such as ‘pecalang’ in Bali to monitor and remind people who gathered around the attraction. , stalls and so on,” he added.

Sinoeng reminded not to focus on the Borobudur Temple Tourism Park, but rather the conical environment. Indeed, the crowds are not tourists, but they are around Borobudur. [antaranews/photo special]
