TAKE ADVANTAGE OF SOCIAL MEDIA TO BOOST INDONESIA’S TOURISM SECTOR

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy invites tourism industry players to take advantage of the power of social media to help revive the tourism sector.

According to the Expert Staff of the Minister for Organization, Management, and Inter-Agency Relations of Tourism Ministry, Noor Hadi recently said tourism players must be able to innovate and market digitally, including social media, to reach more consumers in the midst of a pandemic.

“In marketing tourism, we can adapt to technological advances, using digital marketing,” said Noor Hadi in the discussion ‘Optimizing Digital Marketing to Revive Tourism Industry & Socialization of the CHSE Certification Program’ with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Lombok Tourism Polytechnic, and tiket.com, in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara recently.

Noor Hadi, who spoke online, emphasized that there are many media in marketing tourism, apart from the official website, social media that is widely accessed by young people as well as online travel booking applications.

“Digital marketing can make targeted promotions more personal, according to the desired target. In this way, tourism actors can find out demographics, psychographics and consumer behavior effectively. More digital, more professional, we can be more professional like using social media. More digital, more global, the more digital we can reach consumers from various countries,” he said.

He reminded, tourism players must adhere to the 3A concept and prepare it carefully, namely attractions, amenities and accessibility. A tourist place will be attractive to consumers if it has an attraction in the form of attractions, whether it is natural or cultural beauty. After having this capital, easy access and adequate supporting facilities can also attract tourists to come to these destinations.

In addition, it is also important to obtain Clean, Healthy Safety and Environment (CHSE) certification for consumer safety and comfort in the midst of a pandemic.
