INCREASE SUPERVISION SO THAT THE BALI’S TOURISM IMAGE IS MAINTAINED

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages all parties in Bali to convey information and conduct outreach to tourists about what they may and may not do (do and don’t) to maintain the image of Island of the Gods tourism internationally.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in “The Weekly Press Briefing” which took place in a hybrid manner, at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (5/29), 2023 said the Ministry of Tourism regretted the reappearance of foreign tourists from Germany who were depressed and threw tantrums by dancing naked in public and viral on social media.

“We should be able to prevent incidents like this by implementing good and strict SOPs for the comfort and safety of tourist attractions in the context of enforcing regulations, maintaining norms, and respecting the customs of the local community for the good image of Bali and Indonesia in general,” he said.

Regarding the do’s and don’ts, this has also been socialized to airlines and immigration, and the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy also uses the AI TIWI chatboard as a complaint service for the public if tourists break the rules.

“We invite all related parties to participate in disseminating information about tourist signs,” he remarked.

Sandiaga also said he had discussed with President Joko Widodo and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan to issue several policies so that tourists’ stay could be longer, with higher quality, so as to have a broad economic impact on the community.

“We continue to encourage Bali in terms of cultural and environmental preservation in a sustainable and quality concept which we believe can open more jobs and provide welfare for the community,” he noted.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, explained that currently foreign tourist visits to Bali have increased. A total of 1,474,000 foreign tourists visited Bali during the period January – April 2023. However, in recent times there have been acts of foreign tourists from Germany who did not wear clothes in Ubud.

“It’s true, the foreign tourist is experiencing depression, is currently being treated at the Bali Province Hospital. The Regional Office of the Kemenkumham Bali through the German Consulate General has coordinated with the tourist’s family and will certainly take immigration action against the person concerned,” he concluded.
