THE IMPACT OF BROMO FIRE, LOSSES REACH IDR89.76 BILLION: NIA NISCAYA

ADYATAMA Tourism and Creative Economy, Nia Niscaya, said that the impact of losses due to the fire that occurred on Mount Bromo reached IDR89.76 billion.

“The total loss to the tourism and creative economy sector after the fire in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) was IDR89.76 billion,” said Nia in The Weekly Press Briefing Program at the Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (9/25), 2023 .

She explained that this figure was obtained after calculating losses due to the loss of tourism services. There are four aspects involved in the process of calculating this loss. These include: aspects of the number of visits or daily quota; ticket price or type of ticket; costs incurred by tourists when visiting the destination; and the length of time TNBTS is closed.

“This type of ticket is differentiated, because there are tickets for foreign tourists and there are tickets for domestic tourists. What are the losses caused by the Bromo fire? From calculations based on these four aspects, there are two calculation dimensions obtained by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy,” she remarked.

Firstly, there are losses due to no income from tickets, secondly, there are losses from costs that are not obtained because tourists do not visit the destination (lost spending). The total loss due to no income from tickets per day reached IDR121 million, to be precise IDR121,383,809. Considering that the TNBTS tourist area was closed for 13 days, the total loss in terms of tickets for 13 days reached IDR1.5 billion, to be precise IDR1,577,989,515 billion.

“The total lost spending loss per day is IDR6.9 billion, so the total lost spending loss for 13 days is IDR89,184,139,737 (IDR89 billion). Therefore, the total loss for 13 days from these two dimensions, results are around IDR89.76 billion,” concluded Nia. [traveltext.id]
