THE CLOSURE OF BROMO-SEMERU AREA HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL JULY 25

THE CLOSURE of the Mount Bromo tourist area, and the Semeru climbing, were extended until July 25, 2021, after the government decided to extend the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

According to Acting Head of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (BB TNBTS) Novita Kusuma Wardani in Malang City, East Java, Wednesday said the extension of the closure was carried out after President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially announced the extension of the Emergency PPKM.

“The closure of objects and natural tourist attractions in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area has been extended until July 25, 2021,” said Novita.

The extension of the closure of the Bromo Tengger Semeru area takes into account President Jokowi’s directives regarding the implementation of Emergency PPKM. The extension of the closure of the national park area is stated in a letter numbered PG.20/T.8/BIDTEK/BIDTEK.1/KSA/2021.

During the Emergency PPKM period starting on July 3, 2021, the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park area is closed from tourism activities. The closure is in an effort to minimize the impact of the risk of the spread of COVID-19.

The TNBTS Center reminded the public to be orderly in implementing strict health protocols, in order to be able to break the chain of the spread of the virus that first broke out in Wuhan, China. [antaranews/photo special]
