IT TURNS out that public interest in nature tourism and adventure during the pandemic is getting higher. The Adventure Outlook 2022 survey shows that almost all respondents or as much as 99% stated that they are interested in taking nature and adventure tourism trips.
According to Heru Prasetya, Head of Research and Development at Arah Kita Media Group whose team conducted a survey on Adventure Outlook 2022 at the press conference opening & Webinar Adventure Outlook 2022 (IIOUTFEST, the largest outdoor festival in Indonesia, Monday (10/25) said that the desire was accompanied by public awareness of the importance of implementation of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) and travel insurance.
“The Adventure Outlook 2022 survey conducted by the Indonesia International Outdoor Festival with Kopisetara and fully supported by Bank bjb shows the perception of the majority of respondents (86.2%) that it is very important and important to implement CHSE during the pandemic. As many as 72.7% of respondents also consider the importance of operators paying attention to the application of vaccine evidence and discipline of health protocols,” he said.
He explained, the results of this survey provide an overview for the nature and adventure tourism industry players to pay more attention to government concepts and policies related to health and safety protocols as well as the convenience of traveling in the new era.
Heru added that the survey also targets the respondents’ travel styles or habits. Most of the respondents stated that they travel several times a year with a percentage of 58%. What is encouraging, 35% of respondents stated that they travel at least once a month, and 7% answered that they do tourism activities every week.
To dig up more detailed information, Heru remarked, cross tabulation was carried out and it can be seen that it was the entrepreneurs who made the most trips every week. Meanwhile, those who work as employees tend to travel once a month and several times a year.
“Most of the respondents stated that the combination of going with friends, family and going alone (mixed) was 53%. While those who specifically like to go with friends are 26%, and those who like to go with family are 17%. and those who like to go alone are only 4%,” he noted
To see the consistency of the answers above, the cross-check conducted shows that those who like to go alone are the 17–25-year age group. Those who like to go with family are the age group above 26 years old and those who like to go with friends are those aged 17-35 years.
Through the survey, Heru continued, it was also known that most of the 72% respondents spent traveling for 2 days 1 night to 3 days 2 nights. While those who vacation more than 3 days 2 nights by 24%. The types of accommodation they choose for traveling are glamping/camping, 51% campervan, 29% homestay/guesthouse, 13%-star hotel and private property for rent 7.
The survey results according to Heru also show the big role of digitization. The survey results show that 72% of respondents organize their own trips in the sense of making their own travel plans by digging up information from search engines, websites, and social media of travel or activity operators. While those who use consultants and travel agents (a mixture of both) are 24%.
Regarding social media, the survey results show that 96% of respondents do travel documentation, and most of them have the habit of sharing through social media such as Instagram by 86%, Facebook 58%, Youtube 18% and Twitter 11%.
“The results of this survey show what types of social media are used the most by respondents, so that they can be an illustration for tourism industry players when compiling and carrying out promotional concepts,” Heru pointed out.
When respondents were asked about the type of tourism they were most interested in, added Heru, as many as 47% answered a mixture of nature tourism, city/rural tourism, cultural tourism, religious tourism, etc. Then the mix of nature tourism, city/rural tourism and cultural tourism is 23%. Respondents who firmly have an interest in nature tourism are 18% and the rest choose nature tourism and city/rural tourism by 12%.
“The survey also provides an overview of nature tourism activities that are of interest to respondents from low risk to high risk almost equally. Those who like high risk are 37%, moderate risk is 34%, light risk is 28%,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
