THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy ensures that preparations for the G20 Summit which will take place in November 2022 in Bali are according to plan or on the track.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno during the Weekly Press Briefing at the Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Monday (7/18), explaining that some time ago I had a direct review with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan regarding the preparations for the G20. Starting from the airport and venues to welcome delegates from various countries.
“Preparations are predicted to be completed in October in the third or fourth week. Ngurah Rai Airport’s VVIP terminal has been revitalized and will be used as an aircraft parking lot where high-ranking G20 state officials arrive. Security for heads of state and guests from various countries will be coordinated with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and Indonesian National Police (Polri),” he said.
In addition, infrastructure and logistics preparations have also been prepared in various places, especially transportation accommodation for delegates. Then the preparation of communication networks, roads, electricity networks, to the General Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU).
“We also reviewed the preparation of Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) and waste management in several Integrated Waste Management Sites to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (TPST 3R). In addition, we cooperate with MSME actors to assist in providing souvenirs for the delegates,” Sandiaga stated.
Minister Sandiaga explained, Tourism Ministry plays an active role in following up on the President’s directives to set an example through the G20 in overcoming climate change and managing the environment in a sustainable manner with concrete actions.
The Tourism Ministry has also held FGD activities on Food Waste Management in the tourism industry as an effort to overcome climate change originating from Food Loss and Waste with all stakeholders of the tourism industry through innovation, adaptation, and collaboration.
“The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has also launched a Carbon Footprint, where the Carbon Offset Calculator is needed to calculate how much carbon emissions are generated from tourist travel activities. We will also hold a G-20 side event, namely the Indonesia Wellness Tourism Conference and Festival (IWTCF) which will be held from 5-7 August 2022 in Solo, Central Java,” he remarked.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, said Sandiaga, is currently in the stage of drafting the G20 Bali Guidelines for Strengthening Communities and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as Tourism Transformation Agents: a People-Centered Recovery, together with international organizational partners, namely UNWTO. Which will then be adopted at the Tourism Ministerial Meeting (TMM) on September 26, 2022.
“Currently we are also working with the OECD in making an issue note on the creative economy as a document that will enrich discussions related to the creative economy as one of the supporters of the tourism sector,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
