INCEASING CAPACITY, GARUDA INDONESIA WILL ADD 8 AIRCRAFTS IN 2024

PT GARUDA Indonesia Tbk plans to increase production capacity by adding 8 aircraft to its fleet in 2024. The additional 8 aircraft come in several types. The details are, 4 B737-800 NG type aircraft, 2 B777-300 ER type aircraft, and 2 A330-300 type aircraft.

According to the President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfani Setiaputra, said with the addition of the fleet, we hope it can support Garuda Indonesia’s production activities so it is hoped it will contribute positively to increasing the company’s revenue.

He added that the addition to the fleet is part of Garuda Indonesia’s strategic steps in optimizing production capacity to maximize the momentum of growth in domestic and international aviation traffic, especially with the projected recovery of the post-pandemic aviation industry which is expected to fully recover in 2024.

Apart from that, the option to increase the number of aircraft fleet continues to be aligned with the movement or mobility of society which continues to grow positively.

“Previously, we carried out efforts to increase the aircraft fleet by adding 5 B737-800 NG type aircraft to our fleet, of which we have received 4 aircraft and we will send another aircraft as soon as possible this year,” he said recently.

Furthermore, his party will also maximize the productivity of flight routes in line with the momentum of growth in domestic and international passenger traffic.

At the end of 2023, in an effort to encourage the movement of foreign tourists to Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia has increased the frequency of international flights such as Narita-Denpasar (round-trip), Guangzhou-Jakarta (round-trip), Shanghai-Jakarta (round-trip), Melbourne-Denpasar (round-trip), Seoul-Denpasar (round-trip), and Sydney-Jakarta (round-trip).

Apart from that, Garuda Indonesia is also trying to encourage tourism in Eastern Indonesia by opening the strategic route Denpasar-Sorong (round-trip) as well as exploring options for increasing intra-Papua flight connectivity which also has quite high demand from service users.

“For 2024 itself, we are currently reviewing a number of steps to develop the flight network to accelerate our performance through the option of increasing flight frequencies to strategic routes or adding new routes to suit the high demand from service users,” he explained.

Steps to expand the flight network are also being optimized through collaboration with various strategic partners of the Company such as airline partners. One of the routes that Garuda Indonesia is currently exploring is the opening of a new Jakarta-Doha route, where they are carrying out intensive coordination with Qatar Airways as their partner.

Previously, Garuda Indonesia was also exploring a joint venture on flight routes with Singapore Airlines as well as several other collaborations with Emirates and Etihad.

Irfan hopes that with these efforts, apart from having an impact on increasing the movement of domestic and foreign tourists which will drive the local economy, of course it will also contribute to accelerating the performance of the main company through the important fundamentals of business revenue growth.
