LION AIR has announced a strategic cooperation (code share) partnership with the South Korean airline Jeju Air, which will make it easier for service users, especially in Sumatra, to travel to Incheon City in South Korea. Because the domestic flight route from there will be connected to the Batam-Incheon route.
This cooperation also increases the number of cities in Indonesia that have direct flights to Korea, after Jakarta and Bali. And according to reports, Manado, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Balikpapan and Kertajati will also do the same.
According to Lion Air President Director, Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi, said this cooperation is an important moment to provide convenience for domestic tourists to explore more foreign destinations.
“This cooperation also supports the government programs in attracting foreign tourists to Indonesia. With the availability of more flight options, we hope that more travelers from different countries will be interested in visiting the beauty and cultural diversity offered by cities in Indonesia,” he said in official press release in Jakarta after the inauguration ceremony of cooperation, recently.
Overall, this cooperation is a follow-up to the manager of Hang Nadim Airport, PT Batam International Airport (BIB) in expanding international flight connectivity, as well as introducing the investment climate, tourist destinations in the Riau Islands to the international world.
“As an initial stage, Hang Nadim Airport has served a number of international routes, including flights to Incheon, South Korea. Passengers from various cities in Indonesia now have the best choice to continue their flights to Incheon. After arriving in Incheon, Jeju Air offers the convenience of continuing travel to a total of 36 international routes, including 8 routes to Japan and 11 routes to China,” he said.
With so many choices, Daniel Putut continued, travelers from K-Pop countries and other countries can easily visit cities in Indonesia such as Batam and Bali. This will increase the number of foreign tourist visits and have a positive impact on tourism in Indonesia.
In the same place, Jeju Air President Director Kim E. Bae said that Jeju Air will combine the flight network with Lion Air so that it can increase accessibility and flexibility in planning a tour. This code share service between Lion Group and Jeju Air will strengthen bilateral relations between South Korea and Indonesia. It will also open up new opportunities for the development of tourism in both countries.
Similarly, PT BIB President Director Pikri Ilham Kurniansyah said that Batam is the main key to Indonesia’s air traffic rights renewal strategy. Thus, the Batam-Inheon flight route and vice versa Dalat will be realized by utilizing the power of Lion Group in the domestic market.
