MINISTRY DISCUSSES COOPERATION WITH MOSCOW DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE

MINISTER of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya discussed the potential for strengthening cooperation in the creative economy sector with the Moscow Department of Culture to address the rapid development of the creative economy sector.

“The growth of the creative economy in Indonesia is very rapid, and we need international partners to optimize product quality, collaboration, and market development. This meeting with Moscow opens up opportunities for synergy in various subsectors, including market exchange and talent development,” Riefky said in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 10, 2025).

During the meeting in Jakarta, Riefky stated that the Ministry of Creative Economy has prepared eight program clusters within the creative economy program, including strengthening data and information-based initiatives and developing creative resource centers.

Potential mapping has been conducted in 38 provinces and is being compiled to facilitate references in establishing collaborations with the private sector and foreign governments.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Culture of Moscow, Mikhail Demidenko, introduced his city, which has become a major driver of the creative industry in Russia. Its development in the past five years has doubled compared to the city’s overall economic growth.

“As much as 60 percent of Russia’s creative economy exports come from Moscow, and we are targeting a doubling of that value by 2030,” he said.

Demidenko also outlined infrastructure development plans, including the construction of Kinopark by 2030, designed as a film production center with sets from various historical eras, and the Moscow Game Hub, which will launch in November 2025 as a center for video game and animation development. These facilities are expected to strengthen the global competitiveness of Russia’s creative industry.

Meanwhile, VIDO emphasized the importance of an integrated ecosystem for the development of the gaming industry, a subsector also a priority for Indonesia. This meeting is expected to be the first step in strengthening Asta Ekraf through international cooperation, particularly in the gaming, animation, and film sectors.

The meeting was also attended by The Agency for Creative Industries (ACI) and the Video Game Industry Development Organization (VIDO).

On that occasion, ACI stated that as many as 88 million Russians play games, representing 58% of the population, and that they spend an average of around 323 million Russian rubles annually on purchases or in-game purchases.

As a body under the Moscow City Government, ACI focuses on supporting creative companies and projects through grant schemes, acceleration programs, and international promotion. [traveltext.id]
