MINISTER of Creative Economy (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized that the success of the Indonesian Pavilion, which attracted more than 3.5 million visitors at the Osaka World Expo 2025, is proof that Indonesia is not just a participant, but an inspiration to the world. This statement was made directly at the pavilion’s closing ceremony in Osaka, Japan, marking the success of the nation’s six-month showcase of creativity.
“This nation shows its identity through culture, creativity, and innovation. More than 3.5 million visitors came to the Indonesian Pavilion, proving that the work of the nation’s children is widely appreciated on the international stage,” said Minister Riefky on Yumeshima Island, Osaka, Japan, on Sunday (10/13).
The Osaka World Expo 2025 is the third largest event in the world after the Olympics and the World Cup. This international exhibition runs for six months, from April 13 to October 13, 2025, with the theme “Designing a Future Society for Our Lives.”
A total of 150 countries and 25 international organizations participated in the event, which focused on the sustainable development goals (SDGs), technological innovation, and global social and cultural development. Minister Teuku Riefky expressed his pride in the Indonesian Pavilion’s success in attracting global attention.
The Indonesian Pavilion featured the overarching theme “Thriving in Harmony: Nature, Culture, Future,” depicting the harmony between nature, culture, and the future. The Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) collaborated with Market & Museum and the DH Foundation to curate five leading brands representing the creative economy subsectors in the Indonesian Pavilion’s souvenir shop: Gelap Ruang Jiwa (crafts), Desa Timun (local IP), Seni Kanji (visual communication design), KAR Jewellery (crafts), and Galeri Ulos Sianipar (crafts/fashion).
In addition to presenting curated brands, the Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) also opened participation to creative industry players through the Rolling Exhibition program, which was held over two periods. In the June-August period, more than 25 brands participated, while in the September-October period, an additional 10 creative brands joined. This initiative is part of an effort to expand the exposure of Indonesian creative economy products globally.
Creative Economy Ministry emphasized that the Indonesian Pavilion is not only a showroom, but also a symbol of the progress of the creative economy rooted in national cultural values. Minister Riefky added that the success of the Indonesian Pavilion at the Osaka World Expo 2025 is a crucial momentum in solidifying Indonesia’s position as a global hub for creativity.
“It’s extraordinary to see how creative economy players showcase their work that reflects the spirit of the nation, from music and crafts to fashion and new technology. All have received a warm welcome from the Japanese public and international visitors. We should be proud, because through this Pavilion, Indonesia is not only present as a participant but also as an inspiration. Thank you to all parties who have worked hard to create a showcase for the nation’s pride in the eyes of the world,” he concluded.
The Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf) continues to encourage creative industry players to boldly appear on the global stage through innovation, collaboration, and culture-based products. The Indonesian Pavilion in Osaka is proof that the creative economy is the new face of national diplomacy, creating harmony between cultural heritage and a sustainable future. [traveltext.id]
