2025 FOREIGN TOURISTS’ VISITS EXCEED TARGET: MINISTER WIDIYANTI

TOURISM Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana has announced that the number of foreign tourist visits in 2025 has surpassed the target set in the Government Work Plan.

According to the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), released on Monday, February 2, 2026, the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia in 2025 reached 15.39 million, marking a 10.80 percent increase compared to 2024.

“With the actual achievement of 15.39 million, this means we exceeded the target, and the results are better than our previous projections,” Widiyanti stated during a Working Meeting with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday (02/04), 2026.

She added that the government is targeting international tourist arrivals of between 14 million and 15 million by 2025.

According to international tourist arrivals in 2025, Malaysia is the leading contributor to state revenue, and the United Arab Emirates is the country with the highest growth in tourist arrivals to Indonesia.

According to government data, the average expenditure per visit by international tourists in 2025 is US$1,267, exceeding the target of US$1,220.

According to the latest projections, foreign exchange earnings from tourism are expected to reach US$18.91 billion, equivalent to approximately IDR317.40 trillion in 2025. This represents a 13.17% increase compared to the 2024 figures. In 2025, the number of international tourist visits to Indonesia exceeded domestic tourist trips abroad by 6.22 million, marking a significant increase from the 4.94 million recorded in 2024.

“Although not a key performance indicator, we are monitoring this difference because it is important as an indication of a foreign exchange surplus,” she said.

Domestic tourist trips are projected to reach 1.20 billion in 2025, representing a 17.55% increase from the previous year. The Minister of Tourism also stated that realized investment in the tourism sector throughout 2025 reached IDR73.55 trillion, a 56.05% increase compared to 2024.

“These achievements clearly indicate that the tourism sector plays a strategic role in supporting national economic growth and impacting the community’s economy,” Minister Widiyanti concluded. [traveltext.id]
