FORTY journalists from the Syndicated Media Network (SMN) visited PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) as part of a series of media gatherings aimed at introducing the development of the national aerospace industry and highlighting the potential for technology-based educational tourism in Bandung.
The event, a collaboration between PTDI and ARTOTEL Suites Aquila Bandung, began with a presentation on the company’s development, product innovations, and the Edutainment Factory Tour program, which has now become a leading educational tourism destination in Bandung.
According to Adi Prastowo, Manager of Institutional Relations and Corporate Communication at PTDI, PTDI explained that the company, founded in 1976, has four main business lines: Aircraft Manufacturing, Aerostructure, Aircraft Services, and Engineering Services.
“To date, PTDI has exported various products to 14 countries. More than 70 CN235 aircraft have been produced, while more than 480 NC212 aircraft have been produced and are used in various parts of the world,” he said.
He explained that PTDI is also continuing to develop the N219 aircraft, which has a Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of around 44.69%. The aircraft is currently being prepared in various configurations, ranging from passenger transport, logistics, medical evacuation, and maritime patrol.

“We have collaborated with Airbus for almost 50 years and Bell Textron for about 40 years. This collaboration is an important part of strengthening the national aerospace industry. In addition to strengthening the aviation industry, PTDI is also developing an Edutainment Factory Tour as part of public education,” he affirmed.
He also added that through this program, the public can directly observe the aircraft production process and assembly hangars, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the development of national aviation technology.
“We hope that after visiting PTDI, children will aspire to become pilots, engineers, or pursue other professions in the aviation industry. This program has been designated by the Bandung City Government as an educational tourism destination. Regular visits are open every weekend, while educational visits for high school and college students are held every Friday through PTDI’s Community Service (CJSL) program,” he concluded.
PTDI also collaborated with ARTOTEL Suites Aquila Bandung by providing Edutainment Factory Tour vouchers to hotel guests as part of strengthening the educational tourism ecosystem.
Through this visit, journalists had the opportunity to directly observe innovations in a nationally strategic industry and expand publicity regarding Bandung’s educational tourism potential. [traveltext.id]
