BI CALLS THE PRESENCE OF BALICEB ATTRACTING QUALITY TOURISTS

BANK Indonesia (BI) calls with the presence of the Bali Convention Exhibition Bureau (BaliCEB) will be able to attract more quality tourists coming to the Island of the Gods.

According to the Head of Bank Indonesia Representative of the Province of Bali Trisno Nugroho said tourists can conduct MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Convention & Exhibition) tours on a regional and global scale.

“With BaliCEB, not only hotels that are running promotions, but also the provincial government and tourism circles unite to attract tourists, so we can become more trusted in the international world. Tourists who travel to Bali with the MICE destination will spend more money than those who come for leisure tourism,” Trisno said.

He mentioned that this was proven at the IMF-World Bank meeting, all those who came with money, so that Bali’s economic growth could be higher, the country’s foreign exchange was good, the rupiah was also stable. For MICE on a regional scale such as the Asia Pacific level, continued Trisno, usually two to the year before the event was scheduled.

“Our party has high hopes that with the birth of BaliCEB, Bali will be able to seize opportunities as a venue for MICE events by previously participating in bidding. “If we bid abroad, say Bali alone, they certainly want to, but unfortunately so far no one has represented,” he said.

Moreover, the Governor of Bali, the Deputy Governor, to the Provincial Tourism Office of Bali, and all components of tourism are already very supportive of the BaliCEB. BaliCEB is a non-profit organization tasked with developing and promoting MICE tourism in the Bali Province region.

BaliCEB will provide free services to MICE organizers in the form of providing information, visitation to Bali, visits to the convention center, hotels and tourist attractions. BaliCEB also brought together MICE organizers with MICE actors and other service providers and facilitated hearings with officials of relevant agencies.

“Just imagine that every quarter there is a MICE in Bali that is joined by 5,000 participants, Bali’s economic growth will be high, and the Balinese people will certainly be prosperous,” Trisno added.

As a first step to increase MICE on the Island of the Gods, he continued, it can be done by persuading the Ministry and large companies in Indonesia to move its MICE to Bali, and then BaliCEB is introduced to the Asia Pacific and even global level with the number of participants can be more than 8,000 people.

To carry out these big MICE agendas, said Trisno, a CEO from BaliCEB is needed, which is currently underway.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office I Putu Astawa said that BaliCEB is part of the marketing pillar in the field of tourism, which so far has not worked well.

“The real potential of MICE is to be worked on. Therefore, it is needed a CEO who understands very well for bidding the implementation of MICE at the international level and later funding from members of MICE actors,” he said.

While the role of government, continued Astawa, especially to support, motivate and facilitate. “Actually, this BaliCEB discourse has been going on for 10 years, but it never materialized. We really appreciate BI for its extraordinary support, BaliCEB can be realized,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
