DUE TO CORONAVIRUS, GHIBLI MUSEUM IN TOKYO CLOSED UNTIL MARCH 17

THE Ghibli Museum in Tokyo which is famous among Japanese animation lovers will be closed until March 17 due to the corona virus outbreak.

The museum contains the work of animator Hayao Miyazaki in Mitaka, saying the decision was made after consultation with the city. Reported by Kyodo, they will offer refunds for tickets for visits in February and March that have been purchased.

The announcement referred to the Tokyo government’s decision to cancel or postpone major events, in which the next three weeks were considered an important period for curbing the spread of the virus.

The museum, which has been led by Miyazaki since it opened in 2001, requires visitors to buy tickets since long ago. The maximum number of visitors allowed to enter every day is only 2,400 people. [antaranews/photo special]
