SAIL TIDORE 2021 ACCELERATES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN N. MALUKU

THE 2021 Sail Tidore event, which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Trade and the City Government of Tidore Islands, is a stepping stone in accelerating the economic development of North Maluku.

According to the Minister of Trade, Muhammad Lutfi, in his official press release (22/3) said that for that, we must promote North Maluku as a national and international tourist destination by encouraging international yachts to sail into Indonesian waters.

This was conveyed in the coordination meeting for the preparation of the launch of Sail Tidore 2021 which was attended by the Mayor of Tidore, Ali Ibrahi Islands and representatives from the Ministry of Trade.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Trade who is also the Secretary of the Central Committee for Sail Tidore 2021 Suhanto said, to welcome the success of Sail Tidore 2021 which is already in sight, the central committee and local committees in the regions that have been formed must intensely coordinate, in order to create good communication. .

In accordance with the Decree of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Number 28/2020 concerning the National Committee for Organizing Sail Tidore in 2021, this event is chaired by the Minister of Trade.

“This activity is an international program so it must be prepared, including coordination not only with related ministries and institutions, but also with the North Maluku Provincial Government and the Tidore Islands City Government,” Suhanto explained.

Sail Tidore 2021 will carry the theme “Tidore, a World Heritage City, the glue of the nations” and is scheduled to be launched on April 9, 2021 at the Office of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Jakarta. The series of activities “Road to Sail Tidore 2021” will be held from April to June. While the peak event for Sail Tidore 2021 will be held on September 20-26, 2021.

In this period there will be various activities aimed at promoting tourism, culture and local wisdom of North Maluku, such as the Tidore Festival, the Legu Gam Ternate, and the Jailolo Bay Festival.

According to Suhanto, the implementation of Sail Tidore 2021 has an important meaning for the government of North Maluku Province. The implementation of Sail Tidore is planned to be enlivened by the presence of several ships from Spain and Portugal that sailed to coincide with a round-the-world trip to commemorate the Magelhaens expedition 500 years ago.

“At the peak event of 23 September 2021, it is planned that tourists from 100 countries will come to the City of Tidore Islands. Sail Tidore 2021 activities must be able to have a positive impact during and after the activity takes place. Local governments must conduct socialization to the community so that they can participate fully and feel the benefits,” he said.

Likewise, the Mayor of Tidore, Ali Ibrahim, in the meeting hoped that at the launch of Sail Tidore 2021, the people in North Maluku Province, especially the City of Tidore Islands, would also participate in enlivening the activity. This is a form of support in the economic development of North Maluku, especially the island city of Tidore.

“This celebration is one of the important and strategic moments to encourage increased cooperation between the parties in the context of regional tourism development, cultural advancement, and the development of the industrial sector and the creative economy for the welfare of the people,” Ali noted.

Before the coordination meeting, Suhanto and the meeting participants conducted a visit to the location of the center for the implementation of Sail Tidore, namely Tugulufa Beach, Tidore Islands City.

Suhanto is optimistic that the implementation of Sail Tidore 2021 is a powerful strategy to increase Indonesia’s marine and tourism potential in the eyes of the international community.

“During the review, we have seen the progress of the preparation for the implementation. The committee’s work is already underway and the local government has prepared the basic infrastructure according to the plan.
