Entering the second day of the event, discussions focused not only on the development of Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) technology, but also on the various new economic opportunities that can be created through the development of Urban Air Mobility and Advanced Air Mobility in Indonesia.
This event featured the Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Creative Economy (Ekraf), Muhammad Neil El Himam, who represented the Minister of Creative Economy (Ekraf), Teuku Riefky Harsya.
In the Minister’s remarks, read by Muhammad Neil El Himam, the government expressed its appreciation for Whitesky Group’s initiative in providing a forum for discussion on the future of air mobility and introducing the concepts of Advanced Air Mobility, Urban Air Mobility, and eVTOL technology to various national stakeholders.
“The government believes that the development of air mobility technology not only brings innovation to the transportation sector, but also has the potential to create new economic opportunities, strengthen national competitiveness, encourage the emergence of superior talent, and open up broader collaboration between the technology, creative industries, education, and transportation sectors,” said Himam.
Meanwhile, Whitesky Group Founder and CEO, Denon Prawiraatmadja, stated that the development of Urban Air Mobility must be viewed as part of the future economic transformation.
“eVTOL is not just about air transportation technology. It contains new opportunities for tourism, premium mobility services, public experiences, infrastructure, talent, and a technology-based creative ecosystem. Therefore, discussions need to involve various sectors, not just the aviation industry,” said Denon Prawiraatmadja.
According to Denon, Indonesia has significant capital to develop an Urban Air Mobility ecosystem. In addition to its high connectivity needs, Indonesia also has strengths in the tourism sector, the creative economy, and a large domestic market.
“Whitesky Group believes that the development of Urban Air Mobility can present various new opportunities, ranging from airport-city connectivity, premium mobility services, tourism destination development, future logistics services, and various technology-based business models that are currently underdeveloped in Indonesia,” he affirmed.
In addition to keynote speeches and presentations from the speakers, the event also featured a panel discussion bringing together government officials, transportation organizations, academics, industry players, and technology developers to discuss economic opportunities, technological innovation, and the ecosystem readiness needed to support the development of Urban Air Mobility in Indonesia.
In the discussion, the speakers highlighted the importance of building an ecosystem that focuses not only on-air vehicle technology, but also on human resource readiness, regulations, infrastructure, transportation integration, and public acceptance of various future mobility innovations.
Likewise, the Secretary General of ITS Indonesia, Yoga Adiwinarto, said that Advanced Air Mobility is part of the future of mobility that is relevant to Indonesia’s needs. Urban Air Mobility has the potential to be a solution to the challenges of community mobility in growing urban areas.
This view was further reinforced by Prof. Ir. Bambang Susantono, M.C.P., M.S.C.E., Ph.D., believes that technological development must be balanced with prepared governance and transportation systems capable of integrating various modes of transportation more effectively.
By holding “Welcoming the Future of Air Mobility” at Cengkareng Heliport, Whitesky Group hopes that discussions on Urban Air Mobility will not stop at merely introducing technology, but will develop into concrete steps in building an innovation ecosystem capable of creating economic value, increasing national competitiveness, and strengthening Indonesia’s position in future mobility developments.
By bringing together government, industry, academics, and various stakeholders in one collaborative space, Whitesky Group affirms its commitment to continuously promoting air transportation innovation that is relevant to Indonesia’s needs while opening up new economic opportunities for the future.
