DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE ECONOMY BASED ON CULTURE & LOCAL WISDOM IN UBUD

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages the development of tourism and creative economy based on culture and local wisdom in Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali to revive the economy in the post-pandemic economy sector.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, explained that the Ministry of Tourism together with the Regional Government are preparing a master plan for tourism development in Ubud that is based on culture and is sustainable, so that it can open up as many jobs as possible amid the pandemic.

“Ubud is our past and our future. Culture-based tourism and preserved local wisdom, culture and customs are the future of the parecraf sector. For this reason, it needs to be maintained and preserved in the current frame, in order to open the widest possible job opportunities in the midst of a pandemic,“ he said.

Sandiaga Uno also promised to get to know and feel the natural and cultural beauty of Ubud. He will live in Ubud in the future.

“I also promised the Deputy Governor to stay here. In order to get to know and feel more directly, have a dialogue with creative economy actors, one of which is a sculptor who wants to market his products widely. Likewise with fashion and culinary. For example, a culinary entrepreneur who makes Ubud’s typical jam that can be marketed directly via digital,” he noted.

Sandiaga Uno also encourages people to help creative economy players by loving and using local products made by the nation’s children. This is also in accordance with government programs, namely  Bangga Buatan Indonesia or Proud Made in Indonesia and Buy Local Creative.

“We will continue to push through the two main programs of the Ministry of Tourism, namely #BanggaBuatanIndonesia and #BeliK KreatifLokal – one of the pilot projects will be held at Lake Toba in February 2021, namely #BeliK KreatifToba and later there will also be a creative purchase for Ubud which is our digitalization acceleration program,” he said.

In addition, to be able to increase capability and adaptation in the current digital era, the Tourism Minister will prepare Reskilling and Upskiling programs as well as capital and assistance so that the products of ecraf players are increasingly accepted by the public.
