FOREIGN TOURIST VISITS UNTIL OCTOBER HAVE SURPASSED THE TARGET

THE MINISTRY of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that foreign tourist visits to Indonesia until October 2022 had reached 3.92 million visits. This figure exceeds the target of foreign tourists visiting this year, which ranges from 1.8 million to 3.6 million people.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, said this means that it has exceeded the target of 3.6 million. And if we continue to increase this momentum, it will be able to penetrate more than 5 million foreign tourist visits.

He explainded that this achievement showed that foreign tourists’ trust in Indonesian tourism was getting better. Currently, Australia is no longer ranked first as the country with the most foreign tourist visits.

“Here there is a change, previously Australia was number 1, now Malaysia is in first place. Then at number two, Australia is new, Singapore is number 3, Timor Leste is in the top five, and India is in fifth place. Apart from that, the room occupancy rate has also managed to reach the figure above 50%,” he said.

Sandiaga is also optimistic that if this momentum can be maximized properly, not only will foreign tourist visits be able to exceed the target in 2022, but the target of foreign tourist visits between 3.6 million-7.2 million in 2023 can also be achieved.

“We are sure that even if there is a threat of a recession, we will be able to deal with it. In addition, I advise all tourism industry and creative economy players to increase their attitude of caution and vigilance in welcoming the momentum of the 2022/2023 Christmas and New Year holidays. The weather is extreme and prone to disasters,” he remarked.

“I just received a directive from the President, because there is an increase in weather anomalies, rainfall, there is the possibility of landslides, earthquakes, so we must be vigilant, we must be careful and we must prioritize CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, Environment Sustainability),” Sandiaga noted.

He also appreciated the trial period for Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), which had just been revitalized and has now been reopened on a limited basis. I also appreciate the trial opening of TMII which has been able to create a revitalized destination with an environmentally friendly vehicle approach through electric vehicles (EV).

“And for the Nataru holidays, Taman Mini is one that will become a favorite for tourists to visit,” Sandiaga concluded. [sources/photo special]
