MOST MALAYSIAN TOURISTS VISITING INDONESIA IN FEBRUARY 2023: BPS

THE CENTRAL Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the most foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in February 2023 came from Malaysia. BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics Pudji Ismartini said that Malaysian tourists in February 2023 amounted to 127 thousand visits.

“That number (Malaysian tourist visits) with a share of 18.1% or an increase of 13.12% compared to January 2023. As for the second position, the most foreign tourists entering Indonesia are from Australia. Pudji said that Australian tourists in February 2023 reached 84.8 thousand visits with a share of 12.1 percent or down 14.45% compared to January 2023,” Pudji said in a press conference on Monday (04/03), 2023.

He explained, then the third position was occupied by Singaporean tourists who reached 75.2 thousand visits. This is with a share of 10.7% or down 21.70% compared to January 2023. BPS recorded a total of 701.93 thousand foreign tourist visits in Indonesia in February 2023, this figure decreased by 4.62% when compared to January 2023. 

Even so, Pudji revealed that when compared to the same period in 2022, the number of foreign tourists in that period increased. Meanwhile, on an annual basis, the number of visits grew by 567.27%.

Pudji added, the decline in the number of foreign tourists occurred at the entrance to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Bali. Meanwhile, the decline also occurred at the entrance to the sea port of Riau Islands Province which borders Singapore. [sources/photo special]
