Based on Pegipegi’s data processing of the median hotel prices in 19 popular areas of Indonesia, Pegipegi noted that the average increase in hotel prices during the high season is 15%, which tends to be more expensive than during the low season.
Yogyakarta is an area that has a significant price increase in all star hotel categories during high season, namely by 36%. Meanwhile, Jakarta became a popular area that experienced the lowest price increase across all star hotel categories with an increase of 9%. As for transportation tickets, such as planes for year-end holidays, it is predicted to increase by around 10 to 20%. The trend of rising accommodation prices ahead of the year-end holidays before the pandemic usually starts in December.
However, post-pandemic, price increases are expected to shift in the middle or end of November. Meanwhile, the trend of increasing airfare prices began at the end of November and the increase is predicted to last until the end of 2022.
“In the October-November period, prices for accommodation and transportation tickets have not yet increased, so this is the right moment to place an order. Travelers can take advantage of early booking promos presented by Online Travel Agents (OTA) to get more affordable prices for accommodation and transportation tickets,” said Ryan.
Travelers who book earlier can save 15-35% on accommodation and 10-20% on transportation.
Predictions of popular year-end holiday destinations
Which domestic and foreign destinations are expected to be popular ahead of 2023? For accommodation bookings, this OTA recorded an increase in accommodation bookings of up to 28 times compared to the third quarter. The 10 cities with the largest accommodation transactions are Malang, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bali, Semarang, Surabaya, Bogor, Solo and Banjarmasin.
Meanwhile, travelers traveling by plane are predicted to head to popular destinations such as Jakarta, Medan, Surabaya, Makassar, Bali, Batam, Pekanbaru, Yogyakarta and Palembang.
Those traveling by train, bus and travel for the year-end holidays are expected to travel to Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Bekasi, Tangerang, Malang, Bogor, Solo, Purwokerto, Surakarta and Tegal.
Meanwhile, predictions of foreign destinations that many tourists aim for are Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Australia.
Ryan said that his party is targeting an increase in accommodation search traffic by 3-5 times during the year-end holiday momentum.
